What We Do

The National Executive has a term of office of two years and meets once a month with the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) and the National Participation Office team in Dublin to progress their topic.

Our topic:

The Comhairle na nÓg National Executive 2020-21 commenced their term on Sat 25th January 2020. Until December 2021, this group will be working on the theme of Climate Change with a specific focus on climate conscious transport solutions.

Background to this topic:

The theme for Dáil na nÓg 2019 was Climate Change. 155 young people aged 12-17 took  part in the event in Leinster House (read more here) and had the opportunity to discuss all aspects of this theme. A report is currently being compiled on the findings of the workshops that took place there. The three areas of Climate Change that were discussed by the delegates of Dáil na nÓg were:
• Action plan to reduce single use plastics
• A youth-driven national awareness campaign
• More climate conscious transport solutions

More climate conscious transport solutions was the area that received the most votes and will be the primary focus of the work of this National Executive. After a vote by all delegates, climate conscious transport solutions received the most votes and has formed the basis of the work-plan for the National Executive 2020-21.
