Environmental Protection Agency – consultation with young people

Environmental Protection Agency – consultation with Comhairle members

24th and 25th November 2020

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is responsible for protecting and improving the environment as a valuable asset for the people of Ireland. They play a key role in environmental regulation, provision of information and data, and advocacy for the environment.

They are currently developing their next five year strategy and were keen to engage with young people on the development of the strategy, raise awareness of the role of the EPA and environmental matters generally, hear what their concerns and hopes are in relation to the environment and their health, and seek input from them with a view to improving their engagement and communications with them.

They also wanted to hear their ideas and views on how they can promote personal and societal responsibility for the environment, and what benefits young people see for their communities and society in having a healthy environment. This formed the basis of the two consultations in November.

Report on the consultation will be available here shortly
