Dáil na nÓg 2021

What will we be discussing at this year’s event?

The theme for this year’s event will be Equality. This theme came out of the Comhairle Networking Events 2021

After these events, three topics were circulated to Comhairle members nationwide to allow more young people to have input into what the theme for this year’s event will be. This is the breakdown of the vote: Equality – 43.8%     Body Image 34.4%     Mental Health 21.9%

As in previous years, the main focus of Dáil na nÓg is coming up with a series of recommendations for the work-plan for the forthcoming Comhairle na nÓg National Executive based on the theme for the day.

3 x workshop consultation sessions, 9th October and 16th October 2021

The consultation part is one of the most significant parts of the event. Three online consultations with Comhairle members will take place in October, in advance of the national event, to come up with a series of recommendations on the theme of Equality: one on Sat 9th October from 11-1pm and two on Saturday 16th October: one from 11-1pm and the second from 2pm-4pm.

The top recommendations from the three days will go to a vote on the day of Dáil na nÓg and this will form the mandate for the work of the incoming Comhairle na nÓg National Executive

Dáil na nÓg Steering Committee 2021

In the lead-up to Dáil na nÓg, we have established a steering committee made up of members from the following Comhairlí: Cork City, Kerry, Leitrim, Monaghan, Offaly and Roscommon. They have met three times to date in August and September.

This group has been tasked with the planning for the event, in conjunction with the DCEDIY National Participation Office, and coming up with ways to make it the best one ever. They are being consulted with on all areas of event planning including merchandise, promotion and publications, facilitators and social media.

The Comhairle members have also been involved in piloting and tweaking the workshop methodology which will be used on the day of the three October consultation events.
